Coastal Retreat

Things To Do

We have an 80  x40m grass arena, and very shortly we will have jumps and poles available to set up your own activities and play with your horse..... but at the moment its just grass and good if you wanted to do some schooling.

With Pip’s personal background in Mediaeval Skill at arms on horse back, we hope to be introducing some of these activities in the future for our guests to try and also a orienteering/cowboy challenge course with obstacles set out through our trees....its next on the list!

We also offer these facilities to be booked for clinics and team building, alongside a large social room available for bookings for workshops and more.

Please contact us for more information on this and group booking costs.

Beach Riding

Enjoy the unique experience Himatangi Beach has to offer, just a ten-minute ride from the Yurts or you can access directly by vehicle. The beach is fully accessible by 4WD vehicles and horses at all tides, however, enjoy the wide riding space when it is at low tide.

For horse riders keen to get in the water, the beach is a shallow three bar and berm beach that allows walking in the shallows or heading out deeper to swim and surf with your horse. There’s plenty to explore, with logs to jump, creeks to cross and access to the forest and dunes. Himatangi is shared with many beachgoers who all respect the space and one another.

The best local fish and chips can be found at Reg’s Takeaways at Foxton Beach. These guys are our local go to! Can’t go past the Cheese n Gravy chips and their burgers are exceptional. Mr Grumpys is also pretty well known and I've been known to eat there as well
